Unfortunately we live in a society that is scared to death to do anything to treat minority races seemingly different, as companies get stung by the racist card all the time. I have found that a hell of a lot of the asian culture (particlarly in the UK) are more racist than the white people. They call anyone that is not their religion not fit to burn. Political correctness gone mad as usual.

If what you have stated is true. I would look at what this employer is trying to achieve by their creation of racial bickering?.
We tend to hold each other accountable for what is happening at the ground level.
If a member of staff from BA has been given permission to wear a turban it is because the hierarchy has allowed it to happen therefore why would they deny another member of staff the right to wear a cross.
well I would say this is because they create a hidden agenda ,one that would cause racial discrimination. Remember no member of staff has the power to make changes only the employers can do this.
It suits employers to keep their employees bickering :as this will stop any unity forming amongst the workforce the last thing any employer wants is a united workforce.

A Sikh wears a turban as a practical solution to keeping his hair in check. It's not a "religious symbol". A cross is.

But I think there's far too much emphasis at the moment on stopping people wearing things that don't harm other people - be it a cross or a veil - when really it's the person reacting to it that has the problem (and I write that as a humanist atheist).

This is totally unfair. You can't apply the rules to some people but no others.

Why don't you come to work wearing a turban someday? See what they say!

To repeat an oft overused phrase it's "political correctness gone mad".
They claim it's not just a crucifix, but any religious symbol that is visible; you're right with the hypocrisy of the turbans.
Will they start asking customers to hide religious symbols on entry to the airport? Pathetic.

No way but a possible explanation is that racism law suits are more likely to be successfull for ethnic minorities i would say however that if this has happened to you you should go to your union rep or if you don't have one write a formal letter of complaint citing religious discrimination! this is why it is important to be in a union as they are paid to fight these injustices on your behalf.

if a sikh can show his faith by wearing a turban then a christian should be able to wear a cross.

Its just another example of how this country is going compleatly mad. This is a christian country, our Queen is head of our church, and all we seem to be doing is undermiming those facts. Of course we welcome all other faiths, but that dosn't change the essense of what we are. B.A. have made an absolutly riddiculous decision. Shame on them.

Their argument seems that Christians and Jews can placed on their symbols under their outfits yet Moslems and Sikhs won't be in a position to. i do no longer think of it is life like in accordance to the on a daily basis Mail (no longer that i might often p.c. to place self assurance in that paper),: "The airline's uniform code states that team shouldn't placed on seen jewelry or different 'adornments' whilst on accountability devoid of permission from administration. It makes exceptions for Muslim and Sikh minorities via allowing them to placed on hijabs and turbans."
