I lived in the UK for 25 years, and believe me it's no picnic.
That's why I left.
We have a government who say they're the New Labour party, but behave like a bunch of fascists.
We have a very rich history, but the government kow-tows to the USA.
Oh, come on, I haven't mentioned droughts followed by floods, strikes, and so on and so forth - 2 Years - you might just survive. Good tip: cook for yourself! If you don't have time, microwave pre-prepared food is normally better than what you get in a reasonably priced restaurant.

I have lived in several other countries and I can say that whether or not you have money the UK is probably one of the best countries to live in, in terms of health, education, state welfare, etc.
People moan how bad it is here but they wouldn't, if they had some of these things to deal with on a daily basis, where you have to pay for education and basic health care, there are constant power cuts, you have to walk miles to get clean water, there is corruption etc.

If I was a foreigner, I certainly would. But that doesn't mean that I would stay. I think there are places with much better standards of living elsewhere in Europe.
I have had the good fortune to live in other countries and visit many more. To live in another country is to gain not only insights into your host culture, but it casts your own in new and different lights as well.
The UK is a wonderful and interesting country but can be tough to live in, especially in London.

I certainly would. It's a great chance to learn about another country. In my 20s, I lived in the UK for about 9 months. It was very interesting, very green and beautiful. Travel is the greatest education there is.

Only 2 years? I have been here for 77 and no chance now of leaving of my own accord. It's very nice if you have a good income, but on a pension it's not much fun .Hand to mouth, and every month something else goes up, so you have to cut back on another small luxury to compensate
