BA have a no jewellery policy. This is for health and safety reasons. Exceptions are where it is a REQUIREMENT of your religion.eg. a wedding ring. A turban is a religious requirement. A cross around your neck is NOT a requirement of christianity, it is jewellery. She has been asked not to wear it, not because it's a cross, but because it's jewellery! This woman has got up on her high horse, claiming religious inequality, when all she is doing, as are those who are outraged by this, is showing her immense stupidity! If this woman has such 'deep' christian beliefs, then why not get the cross tattooed on her chest? BA don't have a 'no tattoo' policy!
This woman is a disgrace, and the fact that this story has made it on to national news is appalling! all it has achieved is to fuel the fires of religious intolerance!

Their argument seems to be that Christians and Jews can wear their symbols under their clothes but Moslems and Sikhs can't.
I don't think that's reasonable
According to the Daily Mail (not that I would usually want to rely on that paper),:
"The airline's uniform code states that staff must not wear visible jewellery or other 'adornments' while on duty without permission from management.
It makes exceptions for Muslim and Sikh minorities by allowing them to wear hijabs and turbans."

It is a uniform policy. Turbans have been allowed for years. Don't blow this up into a religious debate. Isn't there enough heartache in the world without us fighting in the UK?

Are you sure about that? Where did you get this from? I"m pretty sure I"ve seen a BA cabin crew member with a little cross...but maybe it was another airline?

We haven't got the full story. We don't know if the stewardess is wearing the cross because she is a Christian or is it just another piece of jewelry? It is not a requirement of Christianity that you should wear a crucifix.

I hadn't heard about that. This year I booked my first flight with BA since they daubed their aircraft with third world graffiti. If this is true, it may be my last flight with them.

Good point.
It's an insidious form of censorship.
