Probably have broken the belt. If you are a 'do it yourselfer' at all, they are fairly easy to replace.
Unplug the unit. Either the front or top panel is usually hinged and lifts up. There will be locking tabs in the corners where the panels come together. Use a small putty knife or similar tool to depress the tabs and lift the panel. The drum will be exposed now and it will be obvious if the belt has broken. It could be that the belt has slipped off the motor pulley in the bottom of the cabinet, but unlikely.
Write down the make, model and serial number of the machine and take it with you to the appliance repair parts seller in your area. After you have been handed the belt, ask the parts counter person which side of the belt is the contact side.
To install the belt, you will need to remove the access panel in the lower corner of rear panel to reach the motor & pulley assembly, and the front panel to get the new belt over the drum.
There are usually a couple of small screws holding each of these panels into place.
After installing the new belt over the drum, and threading it through the drive motor and idler pulley assembly, try to line it up as closely as possible to where the old belt ran on the drum by manually turning the drum. A couple of revolutions and it will align itself to the correct position on the drum. Also, take note as to which side of the belt is supposed to be in contact with the drum and that there are no twists in the belt.
This is a good time to do some light housekeeping on the dryer. Remove any excess lint from the heat discharge tube; cabinet floor plate interior and front of drum / lint trap areas. Be careful to not knock wires off the motor, get the lint trap seals out of place etc.
Put the cabinet panels back together in reverse order of disassembly. Plug it in and test it out.
Good luck.

my dryer wasn't working a while ago, spinning slow & making a bad noise. I had to call the dryer guy & he used a small tool like a crow bar & popped the top up & then took the front side off, reached in pulled the drum out & replaced the belt. He did it very fast & i can't remember the cost. I wanna say $75.00. I hate when things break, even if i know how to fix it , s/times i don't have the strenght because i'm a girl. good luck.

Maybe the belt has slipped off the drum so it won't turn. Maybe a fuse has gone so the circuit is not longer connected to tell your drum to spin. Take the back off and see if the belt has snapped or slipped and see what is happening when you run it. If its not obvious its probably cheaper to buy a new machine unless you can find someone in the yellow pages who comes out without charging you a call out fee. Unless its still under guarantee.

check the belt, at the back, turn off the power to the machine ,undo the backplate retaining screws, check visually that the belt is sound and in its correct position, if it is then the other problem may be the fuse, or the motor brushes, if you have power on to the machine then the fuse is ok, to replace motor brushes is not a hard job, call out the engineer it will cost about two pounds for the brushes and forty pound call out charge. first of all check the belt. this is a common cause. there strech and snap. so even though you can hear the motor working and it's still heating up. it the belt as snaped. or just worn loose. the drum will not turn. good luck.

First Step: Check for 115 volts to your motor, not with your hands with a meter. Measure the voltage ensuring you have power. But while you do this it may be obvious your belt is broken. Do not check for power if you do not know what your doing. And like the prvious guy explained your timer may be bad.

Unplug it first of all.
Look to see if a belt is broken. Or a fly wheel, some sort of shaft and circular gear or connection.
