It should last forever as long as the edgepin connector remains in good condition!

Theoretically, the flashed data should be stored forever on the card regardless if you "plug it in" or not... However, as with any sensitive electronics, Xrays, electrical and magnetic fields can slowly compromise the integrity of the data if the card is not stored properly.

It lasts for about 10 years before the signal (voltage) dissipates so it cannot be extracted from the background "noise"
