Only the people would benefit by making marijuana legal. The current suppliers would loose because the price would fall drastically, the law enforcement agency's would loose their crush jobs, Other governments would loose all the money the USA gives them for marijuana enforcement. Drug testing companies and people would loose their jobs, and we could collect taxes on it lowering our deficit. The only people who would gain are the people who smoke it.
With republicans blinding following outdated ideas, it will not change.
3 weeks to vote these people out

Nope!! Even though legalizing it would be the most sensible thing to do. Look at the money we spend on trying to enforce the laws governing it. It's a losing battle. Our country needs money for our schools. It would be money better spent if we legalized it and taxed it. I'm in favor of legalization. Booze is legal and I see more people having a problem with that. They get drunk and want to fight. People that get stoned can't get it together to go to the bathroom let alone pick a fight. The worst thing that happens to a stoner is he has a perpetual smile on his face!

No. It has been illegal for so long that it would be suicide for the beaurocracy to legalize it. A common misnomer that if a state legaizes it, it is legal is a trap. While the state may legalize it, if you get caught with it, it still may be prosecuted under federal law regardless of amount. The now infamous war on drugs has become such a staple of the economy that to legalize marijuana would seriously cripple a good portion of this economy, even if they taxed it like they do other vices. So in summation, stay away from the rallies, the protests and the other pro legalization events...and toke at home like you always do. Because all of these events are a waste of time and energy and yes they do send undercover officers into those events.

Well, who knows? Our government doesn't seem to really listen or pay much attention to how we vote on such things. But I will say this, it is becoming some what decriminalized. Like in Amsterdam. It's actually not legal there, it's just decriminalized. I was pulled over about 5 years ago and my boyfriend (who was on parole at the time) was driving. We were both asked to get out of the car and they searched us both and the car. Under the dash cover were about a zillion roaches and in my purse I had about a 1/4 oz. of pot and 4 joints rolled. Neither one of got arrested (even with him being on parole) What they were really looking for was speed! They could care less about pot. I guess it really depends on what cops pull you over and the attitude you display to them.

Yes, it is already legal. Well, for the smart people anyway. I mean, the ones not dumb enough to stand on a street corner all day and sell/buy it drawing attention to themselves.
The ones not dumb enough to smoke it in their car and leave the pipe there, then get caught by the police.
The ones not dumb enough to grow 3000 plants in their basement, and have the electric company tip off the police.
The ones who don't grow 20 acres of it in the woods and expect not to be caught.
I know, I have been avoiding the law for years!

No, because you can't patent a plant. The pharmaceuticals cannot make any money off of it. Along with the other countless stupid reasons that have been listed by others.
