Hi I'm Italian and I was wondering why teenagers strive for popularity in US. This look silly from my perspective so can you tell me why all this struggle?

it has always been that way here. young people feel they have the need to belong to something or some group or gang..all to many time it turns out to be the wrong place for them.. you have the good looking kids over there,, the geeks over that way..the smart kids over there,, the street kids over there... we tend to push others away, and draw others close, some by looks some foe other reasons. this is wrong.look at a person thru the character of their actions, not because they loook cool, or just because you want to belong..

Man is a pack animal. The family unit in many western countries has broken down and the new "pack" is High School.

It's not that important. Don't believe everything you see in American movies and TV shows. There's a reason why it's called fiction.

It's not really important. No one is really popular or unpopular in high school. Everyone has their own time in the limelight.
