i am Muslim myself. but from Egypt not Jordan. i tell you don't be afraid and do not listen to those answers above because they have never been to any country except their own.
about the 4 wives thing. he cannot marry a 2nd wife simply because in Muslim countries you and him will sign a marriage contract. and part of the marriage contract says "will you accept ur husband marrying a 2nd wife?" if you said no, and he sign it, then he will not marry a 2nd wife.
regarding female laws, there are also man laws and marriage rights. he is responsible of taking care of you by the law of which afford a good living to you and your family. that's part of his duties as a man. i don't think Jordan is following the Islamic Law there, but it's very restricted if a man or a woman cheat. some villages in Jordan do not accept women to wear clothes that are very sexual desirable except at home with Ur husband. so try to wear clothes that little bit cover your body (not necessary cover your hair or ur face) but just cover body.
don't be afraid, and don't listen to those ignorants. they don't know nothing except from the media and Hollywood movies that usually try to make us look like we are devils or something, but in fact we are generous people, who love our family , wives and children and want to live in peace.

please do not do this . those men are very controlling and once they get you over there you will be beaten if you talk back to him about something you dont like. You have no rights in Jordan if you are female. You also have to keep your face covered and you cannot go out by yourself. And do you know if you have achild with this man and you decide to leave you cannot take the child with you . Please rethink this for your sake as well. I cannot advise you . But you would be making a big mistake.

oh dont go! It's so scary! read the reports. there was even a MOVIE -based on a true story. about a woman who became property after she got there. do you know birthcontrol is punishable by death? do you know he can beat you as much as possible? will you allow your future children, especially daughters to live in such a society? Do you know the level of HYGIENE in the mid east? are you ready to cover yourself from head to toe all day? --think about it. if he truly loves you, he wont make you go to such a place. You may just be an aquisition.

my mom is treated like a Queen. and women are treated like princess. and NO! you don't have to cover from head to toe as they claim. if that true then why Jordinian Tv chanel shows women who aren't cover?

this means he will OWN you. you are not a 'wife' (in american terms) - you become a SLAVE.
