I dont think it should be 40 and 50 because the ques. is saying 2 complementary angles so ther sum must be 180

Let the two angles be, A & B.
As the angles are complementary, A+B =90
It is given that , A - B = 10
Consequently, A= 50 & B = 40

First, you have to create your representation.... So, let x be the first angle and let 90-x be the second angle... probably, the question means that the two unknown angles are complementary because if it says 2 complementary angles, then, there are 4 angles involved wherein the pairs of angles sum up tu 90 deg.... So, back to the question... The equation should be like this....
x-(90-x)=10
x-90+x=10
2x-90=10
2x=100
x=50... The 1st angle is 50... and the second is 40

Firstly find out the definition of a complimentary angle
"When two angles are combined to total 90°, they are referred to as complimentary angles. "
you can solve this mentally as 50 and 40
Or solve the simultaneous equations
X + Y = 90
X - Y = 10
Adding th Above we get
2X = 100 and hence X = 50
and on substituting 50 to replace X in any one of the above equations
we get Y = 40

auppose one is x then other is x+ 10
x+x+10=90
2x=90-10
x=80/2
x=40
other angle =x+10
=50
so the angles are 40 and 50 degree

Let us get the definitions right.
2complementary angles sum=90Deg
2supplementary angles sum =180
So it has to be 40&50Deg
This is got by solving equations.
x+y=90
x-y=10
2x=100
x=50
y=40

Let those angles be = x1, x2
Since they have difference 10, so
=> (x1 - x2)=10 ... (i)
Also, since they are complementary to each-other,so
=> (x1 + x2)=90 ... (ii)
Solving, eqns. (i) & (ii) get,
x1=50degrees, x2=40degrees. [Ans.]
