I thought it was unusual with him not being a pitching or a hitting coach.As far as I know there was no dissention in the Sox clubhouse.By the way,I need a more intelligent answer than WHITE SOX suck!!

maybe because of something that happenedoff the field. If there were no official reports, it was probably not baseball related. Donbt worry it will surface eventually

Raines was a (bench coach). A jack of all trades. A guy to talk to and pick up tips about the game in general. Raines was a pretty good hitter during his career and probably helped in some way with the hitters. Mostly he batted for the infield and threw some batting practice. I guess the White Sox figured they didn't want the extra expense of keeping him. It's not like Raines needed the money anyway.

I don't know the answer to this, but the most likely reasons are that Raines has indicated he wants to either retire or seek a Manager's job either in he Majors or Minors.

The Red Sox have let Batting Coach Ron Jackson go because he's indicated that he wants to try his hand at managing at AAA level.

They needed a scape goat for their poor showing this year, and it was Raines who got the honor and the axe.
