why does my motorola RAZR V3 keypad lights doesnt work!?

Question

my friend gave me a motorola RAZR V3 and its getting hard for me use it on the dark because the lights of its keypad doesnt work!
my friend didnt also know how to fix it!
i just wanna know if V3 doesnt really have a a built-in lights on its keypad or i got some technical problem with it!
i cant also find on a fone setting that able me to configure the keypad lights..
