I think the poison in her veins is hate. It is nourishes by more hate. And thus it consumes her inner self with anger. This person has been betrayed and hurt very badly.

It sounds like someone is caught up in the grips of addiction.
Poison in her vains , and trying to hide it I think that would be the secret fire, And can;t stop it Fire gets out of control like poison
thats the drug
