I think he should come back, but be used sparringly. A great dead-ball specialist is a cliche. He runs loads, not as much as Gerrard though cuz hes mental. I reckon he should play in central midfield every now and then for England for the rest of the year. 2 years is asking for too much, hes an old man.

I think David Beckham should have taken over from Sven. Mclaren is just doing a poor copy of Sven, he's going by Sven's old manual!! Give Beckham a chance, and I reckon we have a winning team for Euro 2008 and will be doing even better for World cup 2010!
We need fresh blood, not a rehashed version of Sven's defensive playing!

Yes - but don't let Posh accompany him - we don't need any more Brooklyn Beckhams... *thinks* 'Rio Beckham', 'Croatia Beckham', and what about the twins 'Andorra and Armenia Beckham'. Move over David - let someone else have a go with the ball!

Why not? we won`t win anything either with him or without him.
While we are on the subject of England, the F.A should have looked at the Formula 1 race tables before they appointed a new manager.
Then they would have known....McLaren`s never win anything !

I think he should, whether he is past his best or not he is still much better than half the current England team and was a very good captain.

I'm afraid he's slowed down, but could be useful for set pieces.
He doesn't seem to be in S. Mclaren's plans, but will HE last two years??

ifd he is playing well and is fit then why not,it would be nice if the England manager would pick people,on form rather than what they have done a few years ago

At least let him play for McLaren - we can't do any worse than what happened on Wednesday!
