apart from simply a friend who is a girl and ur friend-not that. but someone saying i have so many girlfriends, so what sense are they in? what do they do, share and ....? who could be so...and all about it. In short, Differentiate between a normal friend who is a girl and a girlfriend.

if its just a fren then it is - more of fren n less emphasis on her being a gal
if its girlfrend it is- more emphasis on being a girl than just a fren.
