i'm not sure you have all the correct info. Coucil Tax can not freeze your bank acct they can request the direct debit and if there is not enough funds then your bank will reject things or charge you.

IF this is correct you have not applied for Council Tax Benefits (from your local council) but this should of been done along with your rent......

Just because you are on JSA or Income Support does not mean everything is automatic.

It may be an old debt from a period before you were on benefits or at thebailiffs - if so speak with the citizens advice Bereau and ask them to make an arrangement for you. They can offer an attachment of your benefits (about £2.90 per week) as long as you have not incurred any bailiff charges.

Finally as I work in the job I can assure you everything they do is within the law - so anything they do is legally correct (ie they CAN do that)

Good Luck

it does make a difference in scotland unfortunately. This would not happen in England. The laws in Scotland differ greatly and the powers that be have more power to do what the hell they like it seems. My best advice to you is go see the benefits office and tell them what is happening and that you can't afford to keep having your account frozen and not being able to get at money to feed yourself.

you want to be extra certain!I take it you're on income and all of your reward bypass you economic employer account? The DWP might want to pay you Council Tax income direct to the council and not in any respect for your economic employer account, until eventually you've requested for it to be paid into the account. it's going to be your economic employer that has frozen your account yet they ought to have despatched you a letter affirming this. What are the caution symptoms that it is frozen? you ought to visit or telephone your economic employer on the instantaneous.

If you are on benefit, then you are dam lucky to have a bank a/c. Get off your backsiside and "find a job". Thats what the majority of us have to do, instead of complaining that we don"t have the money to pay our bills. As workers we not only have to pay "our bills" we bloody well have to pay "yours" as well. Get a grip.

Who keeps freezing your bank account? Is it your bank? if it is , yes they are allowed to do it if you don't stick to your agreement with them, do you keep going overdrawn or something?
