I am a university student and i was offered a place to stay on Campus. However they offered me the place after the academic term started ,i had to find a place to stay.So I have renewed my contract with my current landlord and I need a confirmation letter from him to prove that he will let me go.I didn't talk to him yet.How can I persuade him to cancel the contract and let me go?I really really need to be on campus, because of my overloaded labwork.I didn't have any problems with him as a tenant last year,i speak the same language as he do and I know his favourite football team and i guess that's all I know about him.I know i need to talk in terms of what he wants ,but I can's see any reason why he would let me go.

Tell your landlord the truth - lies only land you in trouble.

Now - as a landlord, I can tell you that good tenants are hard to find, so why not ask around your friends and people you know and see if you can find someone who will take over your lease. Then you can go to the landlord and explain the situation and offer a replacement tenant that you are willing to vouch for. Make sure that you really can recommend this person as a good tenant though.

It is always better if you are going to present someone with a problem, to think of possible solutions as well which you can also offer.

I believe university accommodation is well sought after, so he will in all likelihood have no problem replacing you.

Are you sure you have this correctly? Who needs a letter? A landlord can't legally MAKE you live there. He CAN make you pay the rent for the term of the contract you signed, or until he finds a new tenant, though. Usually, if you need to get out of a lease, your landlord might release you if you give him a good reason. But remember, even if your landlord agrees to let you out of your lease, if he loses any money in rent before he can get a new tenant, it is legally your obligation to pay the amount of his loss.

EXPLAIN YOUR SITUATION, AND HOW IT WOULD HELP YOU TO BE ON CAMPUS AND THAT U ARE SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE, AND YOU WILL HELP FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO RENT THE PLACE. IF HE'S A NICE, GOOD, HONEST PERSON, HE SHOULDNT HAVE A PROBLEM LETTING YOU OFF THE LEASE. IF HE DOESNT LET, THEN ASK HIM WHAT HE WANTS. IF ITS MONEY, MAKE HIM FEEL BAD AND SAY THAT YOU "WILL" GET THE MONEY. DO IT FAST THOUGH, DONT WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME, ASAP. IM SURE HE WILL BE OK WITH IT!!!

Don`t start your career off by telling fibs be straight with him & more is likely he will be reasonable with you telling the truth or he isn`t a good landlord? they know what students go through,do it sooner rather than later it only gets worse when you dither be forthright.

read your contract there is usually a clause that states if you pay so much of your rent I.E. 2 months of rent and give notice they will let you out of your lease. unless it is a private owner.
