Jane Horrocks (Little Voice,Tesco) an english actress and singer, appeared in the music video "1963" (or "Nineteen63") by Joy Division.
Joy Division was a rock band formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. The band dissolved in May 1980 after the suicide of its lead singer, Ian Curtis. The remaining members reformed as New Order and they have gone on to achieve much critical and commercial success.
With their dark, gloomy sound and their use of synthesizers and electronics, Joy Division is considered the pioneering band of the post-punk movement of the late 1970s and the early 1980s. Though they found only modest success during their career, and released only two studio albums, Joy Division have since been acclaimed as one of the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era.
"Nineteen63" or "1963" is a track by British rock group New Order, formerly Joy Division. It was released as a single in January 1995, but was originally released as a b-side to "True Faith" in 1987, and appeared on the Substance compilation of the same year. However, the version released as a single is the Arthur Baker radio mix of the re-recorded version from 1994, which is shorter, omitting at least one verse that appeared in the 1987 edition.
Jane Horrocks (born January 18, 1964) is an English actress and singer.
She was born in Rawtenstall, Lancashire, England. She went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. She lives with the UK writer Nick Vivian and they have a son, Dylan, and a daughter, Molly.
While working on Road, a play directed by Jim Cartwright, she used to warm up by doing singing impressions of Judy Garland, Dame Shirley Bassey and Ethel Merman, amongst others. Cartwright was so impressed with her that he wrote the play and the movie Little Voice just to show off her talent.
