if I had an inhertance of 25 grand and my mother forged the check. How do I find the paper trail, what are the penalties for this crime, and how much would the court costs be?

it will cost you more to get it back but thats not the point,i would fight to get it regardless it was rightfully your and left to you because you obviously deserved it,some people are just greedy..

Act committed is forgery and its penalty is imprisonment for about six years depends on the circumstances. The costs depends upon the amount of the check and the required pay as demanded by the lawyer.

It might depend on how old you are. If you are under a certain age and a minor she may have had a right to sign it. Not necessarily the right to do anything she wants with it though. I would talk to the executor of the will. Thhis may have should been put in a trust fund or such.
