First of all, this is a dead serious question. Please don't post a BS answer because this is serious.......1 month ago my uncle came to my house and punched me in the face ATLEAST 12 times as hard as he could. I am a 17 yr. old male but this man is 6'4 310 pounds. I will try not to go into alot of detail but it was not my fault for him getting mad and punching me (neighbor lied and told him i threatened to cut of someones head which is a straight up LIE)......i figured since i am legally a minor (17) that i could sue him or get my family to sue him or something......my face is just now starting to recover from the beating and he DID leave blood.......I am upset right now because the same day he hit me, i called the police and filed charges, and they said "well, we'll see what the DA (district attorney) SAYS about it"...It is way too much to type on here but i just need some advise on what to do because they have no contacted me yet and its been a little over a month...advise appreciate

Hire a personal injury lawyer and sue him. The criminal charges, if any, will then be discussed with the DA by your attorney.

Well, it would have been better if you had called the police immediately after it happened and pressed charges - or had your parents do it. And pictures of the damage would help out the case. But I would seriously contact the police again and if they aren't helpful, start calling lawyers in your area and explain the whole situation. They would be the ones to start the legal ball rolling if the police will not do anything about it. Good luck.

your uncle has a very serious problem.
Takepictured of your injuries. Keep calling the DA until they agree to press charges. Be sure to get all the proof that you can against this man. Why aren't your parents helping you with this?
It he has hit you he most likely has a habit of it. you are not the first one to be hit by him. Can you ask ot her relitives if they experienced the same thing/
this is a very serious issue. Don't let him get by with it...the next time he hits you or someone else he could kill someone.
You can also report him to child protective services

Get copies of hospital/doctors reports, statements from as many people that saw it happen/saw your injuries and take it to the police. Show them the evidence and say that if you don't get a charge that you'll consult a lawyer about a case against their inaction. Also mention if your uncle has access to any other vulnerable people (kids or old people) that he is likely to take his anger out on as it may be that you can mention negligence and see if that makes them act.
Speak to a lawyer asap and check your rights. It may be that you can get some compensation and get your uncle charged.

You should have called the night or day after it happened.. Being punched that many time surely left bruises... You maybe can't sue.. But you could surely put his a*s behind bars where he belongs to teach him a good lesson.. Also.. What have you done to tell his brother/sister.. Your mom/dad.. What have they done about it.. And are they aware of it?
Edit: I can't believe you called that night it happened, And the police just stated that they "would see what the D.A wants to do with it" Call the chief of police (explain the situation).. Ask to speak to the Sargent that was on duty that night..

Be firm, be proactive, don't sit on the sidelines. That said: Call the police, District Attorney's office again, nicely- always be polite about it--as aggravating as it is. And then call your local dcyf office, division of child youth and family services. Call information for the number to report child abuse in your area, there is one. Good luck.

Call the District Atty's office ask to speak to the lead prosecutor and give her your case number and go from there. If you can not get them. Try victim witness program they will point you in the right direction.
