Why would you want to find a creation myth? Surely you want your child to make up thier own mind with facts? i'm not saying that the creation theory is correct, I just don't think it's wise to give children biased information. Would you consider giving a 'big bang' myth too?

There are many creation myths. Almost all are understandable to a literate twelve year old. Need more info before recommending one.

there's almost nothing a 12 year old can't understand that any other person can wrap his head around. give the kid some credit, perhaps you will be surprised at what she comes up with.

go to any bookstore or library and find the creation myth of your choosing. from the bible to norse and greek mythology to native american stories to sicence books on physics and the big bang or evolution there are lots of great creation myths. if you're not sure if the kid is ready for them then maybe you should try them out yourself and then share them with him or her and try and explain them in terms that you know will make sense to the child. that could be a lot of fun.

Seems to me the Bible is just fine,it is after all written perfectly for a child. Everything is just"God made it so" and fits with a child's mind perfectly. Since it's authors were seeking childlike obedience that makes it somewhat perfect,every page essentially says its just that way accept it,with no room for questioning. And everything is left just vague enough to be able to be manipulated as the situation demands,that too children are accustomed to,like parents changing the rules to suit them at any particular moment. So trust me if you need a good creation myth just stick with what's at hand,why confuse the poor kid trying to come up with some new way to explain,once you start trying to explain myths it gets muddy,sort of like having to create more lies to deal with earlier lies.

#1 = Nobody really knows, but we all like to have stories;
#2 = The Science story goes that before the 'big bang', not even space or time existed, then, for no known reason, there was suddenly a big "BANG", and what exploded was energy, time, and space, which over the following huge amounts of time developed by chance into stars, planets, animals, and people.
#3 = The Hebrew and Christian story goes that there is a god who exists outside of all existence, outside of all time, who decided to create the universe by saying "Let there be light!", and then directed everything that happened, and is still directing things to happen today.
#4 = There are a variety of other sotries, but one of my favorites is that once all of the universe was a huge area of ice, and there was this tremendous cow, who licked at the ice until the forms within it were freed, and some of these forms were gods who, among other things, created animals and man. A twelve year old likely doubts the big band theory already, I suggest M-brane theory. that should keep them busy and not bothering you with silly questions about where it all came from or the meaning of life for a week or two.

As you can not teach sex to a 4 year old, so it is difficult to teach Creation to a 12 years old.
There has never been a Child-Prophet.
