PTT enables instant connection between people on mobile phones - a bit like a 'walkie talkie'. Not say would have been good but in 2003 it was the coming thing - wide use in USA.

That;'s really interesting - I've got PTT on my UK mobile - but never realised what it was for. No doubt it has been suppressed because it stops you making calls in the conventional way, and therefore providing extra revenue for the phone companies. Typical!

Ive seen PTT used in the US and to be honest Im glad it's not here in the UK; it's quite limiting!

Anybody who has used a walkie-talkie will know that PTT requires you to take turns when talking, not jumping in or talking over each other... everybodyknows that actual conversation has no perfect turn taking and there is always talking over one another. All PTT does is makes conversation more difficult and longer.

What if one person is going on with him/herself and you want to say 'hold on a minute' - you cant do that with PTT, you have to wait 'til they shut up! The only thing it's good for is kids playing army!

I'll stick to standard phones where I can talk when I want, thanks!

I thought that PTT was available on at least Orange about 2 years ago, I remember getting a letter about it. Did it never actually become anything?

It was only for phones shared on the same account anyway.

Probably because the phone companies want every last penny they can squeeze out of us :(
