I guess it would depend upon what's most important to you.

Price, specific game titles, or graphics quality.

I'm assuming that Nintendo is going to have the Wii follow the same route as the Game Cube and have it's games be more kid oriented.

Also, who knows how you'd do a first person shooter with that goofy "remote control" controller that the Wii will have.

As for games, I seriously doubt that there will be a lot of games that are only for the PS3 - though I believe there will be some. If there is a "must play" game for you that is put out by Sony - then get a PS3.

Personally, I'd suggest the 360. It's been out for about a year or so, so they've had time to work out the kinks and problems. It's about $200 - $300 cheaper than the PS3 will be - and the games are cheaper (they top out around $59 - while the PS3 games are going to start at $59 and go up to $99 a game).

Plus, with the holidays coming up - Microsoft might do a price drop on the 360 - making it an even better deal than the yet to be released PS3.

You must remember that all these makes are going to leap-frog each other every year or so as the hardware gets cheaper and new technologies are developed - in short, over time the one that is 'best' will vary. One day microsoft have the best, the next nintendo produce something better.

Things like graphics are good in all of them these days, and will continue to improve over time, so don't worry about that.

I would have thought backward compaptibility would be much more important. That is to say, can you still play the games from an older generation of the machine in the new one ? If so, that means you will be able to build up a great collection of games over time, and improve your console as new models come out. It does probably mean you should choose one make and stick to it.

What is wrong with the good old PC ? I have a mid-range PC with tons of memory. It plays the latest games just fine, and I have the advantage of being able to play the older ones too. Not only that, but it can do my accounts, my correspondence, my photo and vidoe processing, my email, and all manner of other things to, that a gemes console can't.

Hope this has given you some pointers.

go w/ the 360 and get the 400 dollar version they don't charge u 4 everything it comes with a built in memory card, hd cable, wireless controller, cable 2 connect it 2 live, free silver edition for live, and a head set. the ps3 will come w/ just the system, a controller, and the power cable. ull have 2 pay extra 4 a hd cable (15 bucks). + a memory card witch will be like 45 bucks. the only way microsoft will charge u for everything is if u buy the core system (the 300 dollar version)

The fact that the 360 has been out for a full year gives it an advantage. There are more games for it and the developers have had more times to work with enhancing the graphics. The real question is what are you trying to get out of it? Do you want a next gen DVD player like Blu-Ray or HD-DVD (Blu-Ray dvd's are cheaper btw). I would go with the 360 being that most of the titles coming out for the PS3 are also coming out for the XBOX 360. Plus Gears of War is coming out soon and Halo 3 which are XBOX exclusives.
