No other country is so prosperous and united as the Americans. The US will be no. 1 for a long time.

The United States is "number one" in many areas. You need to be more specific with your question.
By the way, many scholars expect China and India to have economies larger than the United States long before 2050, and they expect the huge economic growth of these countries to be eventually reflected in their military budgets.

In what? The only thing it has going for it is that it is the largest developed nation. A piece of legislature would easily drop them down a notch and make EU number 1.
