I am looking for a plant or flower that has a good and strong smell, enough to freshen up a small room. I'm going for the more natural approach to airfresheners, any good ideas? also what the name of the small Japanese tree's from Karate Kid? it just slipped my mind and is now driving me insane!

Gardenias are a potent sweet smelling flower. Also any flower that is naturally purple or lilac in color has more scent than it's other pigmented blooming relatives. The "Sterling Silver" rose is my personal favorite, and Lilies of the Valley(white blooms) are very nice too. The availability will depend on where you live as I found out when I moved to So. Cal. The Lillie's cost me $5 a stem here and grew like weeds back in the Midwest. Lilacs too.

Bonsai trees don't do well indoors in artificial light and forced air. It can be done, but it's an art that takes time to develop.

Plants of any kind freshen the air in a room. For a good smell you might try growing an herb you like the smell of-lavender or lemon verbena for instance.

Plumeria is great when its in bloom. Easy low maintenance. Low water, when freeze comes just pull up and put in your garage. They go dormant and wont need any care until last frost and then you replant in ground or pot and fertilize :) Also exotic ;
Great to add the flower to any room. Also gardenia's brought in from the garden and set in a bowl of water is great for any home. ONe last thing that you can grow in or out is always the popular lavender! Best of luck

Definitely lavender. You get different types of lavender. They can all be grown in a pot or in the garden. You can also cut and dry the lavender and keep it in sachets to freshen up your closet.
