My IBM laptop thinkpad 240Z one key has following problem:
When I press this "k" key, screen will display "kkkkkkk......" and keep going can't not stop "k", and sometime press "k" key it will display nothing, but sometime it works fine, I have moved all caps of keyboard, but found nothing wrong, I was told that use alcohol to clean the plastic board which under the malfunction key, I did that. the problem still exist. Please expert (s) help me. thanks

this problem can be in DOS or boot up computer to input password, same situations.so I don't think it is activate StickyKeys, even in windows ,I never press " SHIFT" key

Try to clean your keyboard first.
but I bet, you must spill some water in your keyboard isn't it???
If you spill some water, then say goodbye to your keyboard, go to service center and change it or you can use external usb keyboard.
Sometimes Keyboard can be like that because humidity is to high.
btw, cleaning under keyboard with alcohol didn't help that much :) but you can try it, clean with alcohol or terpentine, than wait until dry

optimistic yet be optimistic once you purchase the instant keyboard that it could use your OS. My artwork computing gadget is abode windows ME (i know, i know) and the instant keyboard i offered become not nicely suited with the OS, so i become screwed. in simple terms FYI...

sticky keys are on... switch them off.
