after SP2 install, slow internet connection?

heya peeps,

having just upgraded to windows home XP sevice pack 2 i am now getting slow internet connection. before when i was on SP1 i could open a tab in firefox and bcoz google is my homepage it shows up instantly, now, it takes its time t connect!!!

does anyone have a fix for this pls?

not just for google but for every website i visit it takes its time for the page to load up

Sounds like it could be a configuration problem with the default Firewall in SP2 ... try going to the Control Panel - Security Centre and disabling the Windows Firewall

It may be just a coincidence and the real cause is that your registry just may need cleaning.
Try downloading this out and see how you go. It is totally free.

If you clear the "Unnecessary Files" and clean thee registry, this should speed up the computer.
Also, you need to do the following steps:
Start / Settings / Control Panel / Internet Options / Delete Cookies / Delete Files / Clear History.
That should free quite a bit of space on your computer as well.
Here is another thing to try:
Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Disk Cleanup / Disk Defragmenter.

You sur that the home page wasnt just from cache. chec speed on the right bottom of screen, where the little computer icon is showing a flashing screen, the connection speed should be shown when you open this icon. SP1/2 shouldnt have an effct on network speeds.

I think is firefox b/c it takes time in mine too and it didnt did it before.
try reinstalling firefox? does this happen with Internet explorer?

ya i think pc speed is going to slow and for internet use xp is slow bocz when time is runng hp speed is going slower try to reinstoll xp
