a=1/3-^2
a=3^2
a= 9.
a= b-1/3+^2
sqrt a=b-1/3
sqrt 9= b-1/3, 3=b-1/3, b-1=9, b= 10
a=9, b=10
a(square)+b(square)= 9(suare)+10(square)= 81+100= 181
there fore answer is 181

a=1/3-^2 I think you mean 1/3^-2
a^2=(3^2)^2=3^4=81
b-1/3+^2 I think you mean b=1/3^2
b^2=(1/3^2)^2=1/81
a^2+b^2=81 1/81

you mean a = (-1/3)^2 & b = (1/3)^2
a^2 + b^2 = 2 / 9 = 0.2222

assume a=1/3^-2,b=1/3^2
a^2+b^2=[1/3^-2]^2+[1/3^2]^2
=[3^2]^2+[1/9]^2
=81+1/81
=81+.0123
=81.0123
