or should you just apologize and leave the area quickly?

Like when Trent Lott was only trying to cheer up an old dude on his 100th birthday party. He said the old dude would have made a "great president" just to humor him. And all of a sudden it got to be "racist" because at one ancient time the old guy was pro-segregation. And then Trent Lott quickly apologized and left the area.

It depends on what they're playing the card on. In some cases it is used to get them out of something that they shouldn't get away with. Using your race as an excuse for you to do certain things is something you would challenge. If the race card is played on something legit like why didn't I get a raise when you are as productive as the other employees. It really depends on the situation. You should always challenge them, never apologize unless you are in the wrong.

people should play the race card more, it takes the punch out of it. The truth is most people are not racist by nature, But loony groups will use it so often that most common sense people smirk at the ignorance of the ones who use it at a last resort to push their beliefs

The race card can be seen in 2 ways.

Sometimes when people yell racism....it is very real. Racism still exists.

And sometimes, people just claim racism because it is their last resort.

If you challenge someone playing the "race card" you rob them of their badly needed excuse for their own failure, and their desire for self-pity. So it's as dangerous for you as it would be if you tried to steal their valuables.

i would call em on it and have. my bf is from el salvador, and has been here for 20 years, and he still says his english isn't good so he's confused, or will rebut with "it's not like that in my country..." i call him on it every time. there is no reason after 20 years he should be confused on english and after 20 years he should know that the U.S. isn't remotely like el salvador! so yeah i call him on it!

It all depends on whether calling them on it is going to do you more harm than good. Some folks can't be enlightened. And you're liable to see at least one of them in this thread........SN starts with the letter R.;)

Yes, absolutley, make them feel stupid for doing so while you're at it too. Everybody knows that black people can't golf, Itallians can't drive, Irish people can't dance without moving their torso and well, whiners can't execute their duties properly.
