Someone in my immediate family just endured the indignancy and horror of having an awake colonoscopy at ***. While the procedure was begun without her consent, she cried out in pain repeatedly and begged for the physician to stop, which he did not. A nurse and patient care tech were involved with holding different parts of her body down to prevent her from flailing, etc. Upon describing the experience, after which the doctor left her without treating her pain with so much as a tylenol, she explained the incident as feeling like she'd been 'raped' - and we would like to take legal action. Immediately. The more high profile and scarier the lawyer, the better. Thanks.

Does this person need the Jerry Springer show or an attorney?
Wow, violent story, but probably exaggerated.

I think that showing up for a scheduled colonoscopy implies that she "consented" to the procedure, however, there shoud have been an anasthetic administered. Short of being there, I don't know enough about this to pass a value judgement. Maybe as a compromise she and the doctor can have their attornies mud wrestle on Jerry Springer.
