i am thinking of you laying next me. can i change the think to imagine? same meaning?

Yes, they can be interchanged...both words mean about the same thing. Both words bring a mental vision to mind

It's a mental vision when you imagine

and thinking is bringing something to your conscious mind.

Use of the word imagine carries a stronger emotional note because "imagining" requires purposeful effort, while "thinking" is more casual (e.g. I am thinking of a word vs. I am imaginging a word or a situation where I would use a particular word)

Yes, it would be the same meaning... except you would write it like:

I am imagining you laying next to me.
