The bicyclist would win rather easily.
A horse carrying a man can only go about 15 miles per day. If it has to go more than that on a regular basis it will be too weak to continue.
When the Pony Express was created (around 1860) they changed ponies every 10 to 15 miles (see the link).
A human being on a bicycle can go 50 to 100 miles day in and day out. By the way, I know this for a fact -- I used to day-trip with my bicycle; 70 miles per day is easy.

Since it has been proven that a man can walk a horse down, given enough time, a man on a bike would beat a man on a horse in that long a race.

A man on a bike, because the horse will eventually get tire and hungry and that will slow them down more. And the man on the bike would only have to worry about himself, and not the horse.

Of course a man.
A man on a horse cannot win because for the horse it would be difficult journey. The horse would be easily tired
On the bike too the man cannot cross all types of terrain.

But a man alone has no fear. He can take lifts. OR even take a plane.

I would think the man on the horse could travel faster than the man on the bike. Also, the man on the bike would tire faster and be restricted to road ways or paths without obstacles.
