Pettite is a free agent - they need to re-sign him. They could also use another bat - I'd try to trade Brad Lidge for one. Then try to get another veteran arm, although Zito's going to be out of the question (too much money, he'll go to the Mets).

First mistake was letting the kid Beltran go, but I guess money talks. Houston needs hitting badly. Cabrera is free from the Marlins that would be a good pick up. Barry Zito, Jermaine Dye is one of the best in the AL, but I don't think pitching is a main option hitting is unless a grade A pitcher wants to come to town it will only help.

An Astros fan!!! Awesome! Me too...and honestly I know our hitting has been weak but I think Scott, Taveras, and Burke are really coming around, I'd try and get Zito to furthur strengthen that pitching staff. We have one of the best in the game and he'd just add to our strength. I also think we need to move Berkman to 1st, Scott in LF and put Lamb in the lineup in RF. I want Biggio to get to 3000 so him and Burke can split time at 2nd. But honestly I would have never let Beltran go...after what he did for us in the 2004 season/postseason he shouldnt have been given up.

Pitchers, pitchers, pitchers. We have plenty of offense, it's our bullpen that blows games for us. We need a steady closer and set-up man. Lidge and Qualls might as well stamp win-plague on their foreheads. The Big Puma, Scott, and Lamb are plenty offense. If the Red Sox rely on Big Papi all the time to win games, can't we rely on Berkman and Scott and win twice as much as them?
