You poor thing. Thats horrible. Buy them anyways, who cares what he thinks. You shouldn't have to go through that. There is nothing wrong with tampons, just make sure you get the lowest absorbancy for what you need and don't wear them any longer than 8 hours. And yes pads can be expensive, but go to a dollar store and buy them there. They may not be the best, but atleast you don't have to worry about your 'rags'... Heck, I couldn't imagine my husband saying that. He goes to the store and gets me tampons all of the time.
I'm sorry for you, thats crap.

Pads. All females, especially, know how spendy these things are! You can do without tampons, pads-no. I say go to the dollar store also. I am on a tight budget and these things are outrageously expensive, I get mine there. They work just as well. Depending on the amount of your flow, you may need to change them several times during the day.
If you insist on using "rags" wash them in the machine on the hottest setting but wash them with Woolite. Soak them in cold water, beforehand, though.
I am getting really sick of your hubby-sorry-and, I don't even have to live with him. Some people seem to think that you are making this stuff up. I hope to heck that they are right because, if not, that means that you are being treated this way. If this is true please try to do something about this. I know that that sounds pretty impossible but, lots of people are willing to help, in any way that we can.

Yeah, tampons are perfectly safe if you use them as directed. Your husband was probably talking about toxic shock syndrome? There have been very few reported cases of that since about a decade or so ago. I don't remember the date exactly, but it seems that the toxic shock craze was caused by a bad batch of tampons. He'll never know what a pain a period is. You have the right so use tampons and pads on your period. I'm sure if he was going through it, he'd fork up the money to buy himself tampons and pads in a FLASH!
It's your body, you need to do what you want and what is best for you.

Your husband isn't the one going through this. If he wants you to wear "rags", Make HIM wash them. They invented pads and tampons for a very good reason! However, if you use tampons other than for your period, you could get Toxic shock syndrom.
And if you use a washer, use Oxy Clean with bleach, that will take the stain and smell right out of them. Washing by hand won't get all the bacteria out.
Use your head and tell your husband to clean your "rags" if HE wants you to wear them. It's YOUR body, not his!

Well I've never had to wear "rags"..but I do bleed through alot when I'm menstruating..I've found a good thing to get blood out is a powdered soap called amaze... half a cup of amaze with really hot hot water and let it soak for a couple of hours.. I imagine the rags are a tad uncomfy?? Just curious.. i feel for you, think I'd tell my hubby to get bent, he's not the one that has to wear em. :)
Good Luck

I just read your other questions--didn't read the answers. If you are for real, you are a moron to put up with a man like this. He is totally controlling you. You aren't being submissive, you are being an idiot. He has no respect for you at all--to him, you are just an object.
Get some backbone and get rid of this guy. Your life is only going to get worse.
If you are putting us on, find another hobby. You need help from a mental health professional.

I just read some of your other posts and apparently you are making this garbage up. In one post you say your husband makes you wear a chastity belt and you are having trouble figuring out how to apply your pads and tampons. You truly need to get a life. You are nasty and disgusting.

Here's an idea.
Cut them up into small pieces and put them in your husbands cereal.
All kidding aside, it's obvious this is an abusive relationship you are in.
The sooner you get out, the better.
