I have been noticing that the media is hardly reporting about the war in iraq.

Does this mean that withdrawal if all forces in iraq is comming in months?

I dont hear anything about the secterian deaths squads and the insurgency anymore. Does this mean we are close to victory?

Unlikely. Australian and British forces are commited for quite a while, as are US forces. Although political history has shown us that there is nothing that voters love more than a war leader, there is also nothing voters hate more than an unnecessarily long or drawn out war. The reason the media is no longer reporting is because they have nothing to report (same war, same struggle, lots of sad Iraqis and an increasing death toll). So the government does not wish to advertise what is rapidly becoming an unpopular war and the media (like the ravenous beast that it is) only wants the "new". Are we close to victory? Undoubtedly: No.

This government had learned it's lesson with the small military operations of the past. Such as Haitti, Panama to name a few.
They learned that when this nation is too informed that the people will not be led by the nose and will start demanding accountability which is something Bush is not ready to do.

So what happens is that the news crews are cutoff from the "Hot Zones" until an operation is completed and the grounds with it's natives are steralized before comments are made.

It was learned that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq nor was the country a threat to us as a nation. The only thing Bush and his bosses were woried about was the several million barrels of oil pumped each day.

You are seeing less news because the less the citizen knows of what the government is doing the less likely the government will be called on the carpet.

Victory? What do you think this is a game.
I work in the media, in such case where there is an ongoing campaign such as the "Iraq crisis" there is only so much that the media can put to the public before they dont want to know anymore. The public are generally only interested in the headlines, what is really just glamour news. Those of us who are interested in the detail of the ongoing situation in Iraq will find that there is plenty of continuing news from talkback radio and news based TV.
International news agencies have repoters in Iraq constantly who are making stories for the media. What is big news is when some significant changes are made in the Coalitions position or the Iraqi governments postion.
Generally speaking the public are not really told as much cos it would bore us all to death with the amount of info to digest. With your governmet, I will say that there wll be plenty news comming up when there is elections etc where the crisis is relected on your own democracy.
As for victory, there wont be one. What do you expect to "win" in this victory? Theres nothing there to be victorious over unless the US governmet decides to declare Iraq part of USA....lol

It makes for negative press which is bad news for the incumbent republicans.. and as the media is wholly owned by the corporations.. you have have a general black out on all things "Iraq" .. coupled with a miraculous tumble in gas prices. Amazing happenstance... too bad the Foley thing is kicken em in the shins so hard..

The Iraqi War was won by the US and its allies. The reason we are still over there is to confront the Islamo Fascist terrorists.
And make no mistake about it.. We have won, we are winning, and we will always win, thank-you Jesus, and thank-you US Militaryand its allies,(UK, Denmark, Japan, Autralia et al)

in simple terms as Bin encumbered has been in a position to stay sparkling of our militia, i think there become something occurring in Iraq with weapons of mass destruction in simple terms as Iran and different international places are doing now. specific there have been some ulterior motives ie oil, that we went in there to guard yet having lived through 911 on the same time as i become residing in long island i think there is a lot, lots greater that the evil ones had planned for united statesa. and which you and that i visit in all probability on no account understand what the quantity of their plans have been. presently after 911, perhaps 2 years, I heard of a raid that become performed at a house and there become untold numbers of computers and different kit that become getting used for what regarded to be terrorist motives. I say that to declare this, we don't hear some lot of issues because of fact it could panic the american human beings. oftentimes tried assaults on united statesa. are dealt with quickly and quietly and we on no account understand how close we got here to destruction. i become interior the militia a number of years in the past and notwithstanding I on no account become conscious of precisely what occurred (I on no account had a "ought to correctly known") there have been a number of circumstances as quickly as we had an alert that something become threatening us. on no account did you notice any of this interior the media, on no account, on no account, on no account!!! So from that perspective, don't have self assurance what you hear from them now. they only think of they understand what is going on, yet they do no longer possibly understand. I doubt that your instructor could be very happy with this attitude on issues notwithstanding it quite is in simple terms that he/she would not understand what's certainly occurring in this us of a and out of the country. there has been lots propaganda and lies that that is extremely perplexing to handle the reality from all of this. As for me i like residing in a unfastened us of a, i do in comparison to united statesa. being attacked via our enemies. I for one, won't talk undesirable approximately our President or the troops, I help them because of fact i do no longer totally understand their job. i'm grateful for all they are doing it quite is conserving me and my kin secure.
