Hey,
First of all I know how irregular periods can be. It is stressful when trying to conceive. Everything depends on how irregular you are. If your periods do not come every 21-45 days then ovulation is a major problem. I know you said you didn't like fertilityfriend.com but charting your basal body temperaure is the only way to know if you are ovulating. Then if you aren't proper treatment can be given to make you ovulate (clomid). I only ovulate every 6-15 months but on clomid twice I ovulated perfectly. I am on my third cycle of ovulation and think I just ovulated so clomid does work. Almost 100% of women with irregular periods aren't ovulating. After trying for 2 years to get pregnant I started taking my BBT and found out how I wasn't ovulating hardly at all so I charted for a while and then went to the doctor and when I showed him my charts he knew exactly that I wasn't ovulating and he started on other tests (HSG, semen analysis, and ultrasound). Good luck!

The only way for you to know if you are ovulating is to take your basal body temp each morn, same time and before you get up. You should see a pattern in temps that leads up to and after ovulation. You can get the basal thermometer at Wal-Mart for about 8 dollars. I use a wonderful FREE website called Fertilityfriend.com...it graphs your temps for you, keeps track of your fertility signs, tells you when you ovulate and also tells you if there is an implantation dip in your temps. You can also use Ovulation prediction kits, but they only measure your LH surge and give you a ball park time for ovulation...they do not pin point it. Oh, and it is possible to be ovulating while you do not have your period, just like it is possible to have a period and not ovulate.

Temp charting did NOTHING for me and I had irregular periods.

I would suggest going to Wal*Mart, and buying an ovulation scope. They are about 20 bucks and are near the preg tests/condoms and so forth. You lick the little lense through when is suppose to be your most fertile time and if u see little ferns it means you are ovulating.

This helped me the most because I found out I ovulate late. The best site I found to track my ovulation days was on www.amazingpregnancy.com . After about 3 months of using the ovulation predictor chart and the ovulation scope, I got pregnant with my daughter.

Please keep in mind that if you are ttc'ing to to start taking your folic acid and/or prenatals before conception to help avoid spina bifida and other preventable birth defects.

Happy ttc'ing! Don't give up!
