WHOA! thats unsteady territory. i would suggest that you check with your friend first. no, you're not asking for his permission more as your are hoping for his blessing. you don't want to start up something with your friend over a girl. if your friend isnt comfortable with the situation, try and back off. and besides, you don't want to end up as the rebound guy, or the guy that the girl uses to make the other guy jealous.

PS. i am not trying to make it seem like you need your friends approval to ask a girl out, but you really shouldnt let a girl get in between a good friendship. that's just my opinion. you should use good judgement and make the right decision.

I guess that depends on how broke up your friend is and couldn't you at least wait a month or so or is he an disposable friend. Or are you just not a very good friend at all. Remember you have to look at that face in the mirror for a long time, don't do something you can't live with, put your self in his shoes how would it make you feel if he did it to you?

It doesn't at all!
Being their best friend makes it even more understandable, because you probably were around her a lot because of the situation.
Same thing happened with my most recent ex.
I told him I liked her, and I wanted to know if it was cool with him if I tried, or if he was against it.
That's really all you'll need to do.

I wouldn't even try to get with the girl unless your friend says it's cool first.
Never date a friend's ex without them saying it's cool.
That's not what friends do.

You asked because you know it is wrong. It has already gone against your conscience.
