I remember when I was about 5 in the early 1980's, I went to a clinic to get my shots. A nurse pressed a round piece of plastic on my wrist. What was she checking for? Then a male doctor examined my genitals while my mom and a nurse was in the room. Is this normal routine to start school or something?

I think the plastic thing might have been a TB test. The doctor could've been checking for an infection or perhaps evidence of abuse...who knows.

It's how they check for hernias and yes, it is a normal procedure. As to the round plastic thing it was most likely an external thermometer. No worries there, just a standard pre admission physical before starting school.

I don't know about the plastic on the wrist either, unless it was to see if you were allergic to plastic. The doctor checking your genitals was to make sure that they were of normal size and no other problems.

maybe you had a bladder infection? You said you were around 5 or younger so maybe that's it. You were born in 1978 which would mean in 1979 you were 1 and in 1980 you were 2 and in 1981 you were 3 so maybe it was a kind of child infection?

t is normal to have you testicle examined. They will be able to tell if they have descended properly. Check the size to monitor for normal development. As you get older, you should examine your own testicle to monitor for any changes. Like lumps. Could be testicular cancer. Kinda like a breast exam for women.
I am not sure about the nurse and the paper thing. Was it a name band for lab work? Disposable BP cuff?

i am not sure about the plastic on the wrist but checking the genitals is normal. they check to make sure everything is developing fine and look for hernia.

WHEN I WENT TO A PHYSICAL TEST THE DOCTOR DID THE SAME THING CHECKING FOR SOMETHING ANORMAL LIKE CANCER AND HE TOLD ME YOU HAVE TO DO BY YOURSELF LIKE 1 EVERY 3 MONTHS
