Where are all these people getting that you have a laptop? If you don't and still have a VCR player or camcorder? Get this product called Dazzle. It will plug into the video play or recorder and into the pc. The pc will convert it with the Dazzle software. From there you can put it on DVD. Sounds easy and it is, can be time consuming if it is a long tape because of the conversion.

What you want is a "capture card". it quite is a computer card that is going into between the slots on the lower back of a private computer computer, and provides the two an RCA or an S-Video enter port on your computer. it is going to even have the utility secure to permit you to capture the video. in addition they make a USB version of the capture card for laptops (on condition that there is not any place interior the case to characteristic the cardboard). With which you run a cable from the lower back of the VCR to the enter on the computer, commence the caspture utility, and playu the tape. come lower back 2 hours later and you will have a 2 hour action picture. be conscious that it takes various perplexing force area to do video capture. Plus you will oftentimes want a DVD authoring application to get the action picture off your computer and directly to a DVD so which you would be able to view it.

All you really need is a good video capture card for your computer.
Some ATI cards actually have TV tuners to display tv, while some just have a composite or s-video input.
Search Amazon.com or Ebay.com for "all-in-wonder", or "tv wonder"
