Since you're already accustomed to a Mac you should definitely look into getting a MacBook Pro. I used to be an avid PC user and switched to this and I love it. Don't get a PC based laptop. Anyone who uses a Mac knows that the buyback quote is equal to or greater to the price that you bought it at. Get your moneys worth. Like the person said above though, laptops are not upgradeable and run slower than an actual desktop. Mac also has the iMac desktop computer which is also an excellent choice since you already have a desktop.

Laptop prices are plummeting and it is time to join the laptop bandwagon.
Before you lap up that laptop make sure it matches the following guidelines:
The main reason to buy a laptop is portability. Before you make that payment, carry the laptop on your shoulder to see whether you are actually able to carry it without any discomfort.
Laptops are mostly non-upgradeable. Whatever CPU, video card (built into the motherboard), sound card (also built-in), and screen, that come with the laptop are the same parts the laptop will end with.
While it is possible to upgrade main memory, and removable drives, the upgrades can cost twice as much as a desktop's.
Most lower-priced notebooks are sold with 128 MB of RAM. If you plan to use your notebook for occasional typing and web browsing, you can manage with 128 MB of RAM but you would probably be much happier with 256 MBs.
Power users should try to get a notebook with at least 512 MB or more. Many notebooks have only one or two memory expansion slots, so it is important to decide how much memory you might need in future.
A Laptop might cost almost twice as much as similarly configured desktop. So, apart from the glamour, go for a laptop if you really need a computer while on the go.
Laptops are believed to be 20-30% slower than a desktop with the same features (CPU, hard drive capacity, etc.). Slower CPUs, motherboards, hard drives, and video systems all contribute to the speed loss.
You will need to spend considerable amount of money to play current games at a respectable speed. Laptops are not appropriate for playing games because whatever configuration you might buy, after 1-1.5 years after you purchase your laptop you will find it isn't fast enough to keep up with the latest new game.

i have an acer aspire 1460z and i like it i haven't had problems with it. before a bought it a couple months ago i researched computers and talked to a few "experts" and they said that all brands are pretty much the same anymore, but acer has really been around the longest. so really anything is ok, but i like my new acer. my previous laptop was a dell, although i didn't have too many problems with it, whenever i'd call tech support i'd be on the phone for 4 hours or get someone in india that you can barely understand, which in turn makes the phone call even longer. my acer now, i bought at staples and can take directly to them and they fix it for me right there and explain what they did....so i recommend at least buying one at office max, staples or best buy, you'll have better luck when it comes time to fix it!

You should get a iBook Macintosh. If you want windows XP, no problem. The macs come standard with good video cards and fast processors. Since mac makes its own computers, you won't get cheap computers that can't do anything. If you get a mac, make sure you get a program called Boot Camp and get the Windows XP boot CD so you can have Apple OS X and Windows XP.

It depends on your needs. Do you want a light-weight, high battery life travelling laptop? A huge desktop-replacement to play games? Or something in the middle?
