My car makes a weird noise when I start it in the morning, and when I turn the ignition it doesn't start ~ I usually have to turn it again for it to start ~ then it makes and "eeek!" noise. It's not supposed to do that, it's not an old car. Please help muh.... I just need an idea of what it is so that when I take it to the mechanic people, they don't try to rob me.

an eek noise? does the car squeal or grind and u say u have to turn the key twice sounds like an igniton swith problem there as far as turning key more than once however if the eek is a grind noise like two pieces of metal grinding together u could have a bad starter if the starter is bad and has been bad for a while it can pull excessive amps out of the battery draining it more than usual on startup after a while it can cause two kinds of no start condition a the starter goes bad or the excessive draw on the battery causes the battery to go bad question for u do ur headlights dim at night when u have the radio on, the a/c on and u have a turn signal on then u press the brake like making a left hand turn on a hot night while going to the store or something if thats the case and ur headlights dim its a sign the starter is goin bad or the eek could be a loud high pitched squeal that goes away after a few minutes, that would be a belt or a bad tensioner if u have a serpentine belt or a bad idler pulley hope this helps

There could many things that can be wrong with your car. Like most others here, have said that your starter is bad, I am inclined to go with them. But the real problem may be that the bandeaux inside the starter in not turning the flywheel, it makes a loud grinding sound. If this problem is been happening for a while now, you could have already damaged the teeth on your flywheel. In that case the repair could cost you a lot. Most times, a simple swap of a starter can get your car running. In some American cars, the mechanic can add spacers to starter the starter. These spacers can be found in AutoZone. My suggestion is to have the mechanic inspect the flywheel, from the hole where he removed the starter from, just to be on the safe side. If he put a new starter and your flywheel was bad, the car will start fine but over time your new starter will also go bad. Hope that helps!!!

The 'eek' is probably a belt slipping as it gets an air-conditioner pump working. This is all too common. As for the weird noise perhaps it is the starter motor being out of line as previously suggested. This will soon cause major (read expensive) damage but fixing it beforehand might take only ten minutes or half an hour. It's easy enough to fix if you can get at it. As for the hard to start, perhaps it just needs a tune up. A lot of cars don't start on the first turn of the starter but run OK. Have a look at this site-

There's a small motor called a 'starter motor' that operates off the battery to start your engine. Sounds like it's just out of adjustment and grinding when you first try to start. It's in a different position each time, so that's why it will work on the 2nd or 3rd go. May just need to be realigned. If it's not an old car, it may well be under warranty and cost you nothing! Good luck.

a great many things could be wrong if we guess and guess wrong and you tell the mechanic that you know this is the problem you could really look foolish. Be honest with him and the great majority of people will be honest in return

Maybe your starter is bad. You are looking at a few hundred bucks for parts and labor.
