Always always talk things through. If something isn't working, speak up and work with your partner to figure out a compromise. Remember it's not you versus them. You're a team, so approach marriage that way. Both of you come in with habits and traditions and "this is the way I've always done it so it's the right way." Keep an open mind and listen. Remember that some things just aren't worth fighting over, and it's easier just to let them do it their way, because in the grand scheme it doesn't matter.

Remember that there are two of you now. Every decision you make will affect your partner. Decisions about shopping, cooking, jobs, finances, major purchases, and entertainment need to be made together.

Also in the beginning it can take time to adjust. My husband and I didn't live together until we were married. It was strange for both of us at first. I was very emotional and kept having crying fits for no reason, but I got over them. My husband wouldn't sleep in the bed with me for a while. I mean we'd make love but then he'd go fall asleep on the couch. That lasted for a couple of months and then it just stopped.

Finally, make each other laugh, and offer support and encouragement at every opportunity.

First of all, don't listen to "Lifescircle's" he's apparently had his pee-pee spanked once or twice and can't get over it. Secondly, don't go into it expecting it to be some sort of fantasy like what you see on tv. Simply see it for what it is--2 people, in love, coming together. Don't try and change the other person, and expect the same in return. Don't believe or fall victim to standard rumors such as "sex stops after marriage" or "happiness ends after marriage". My husband and I are going on 6 wonderful years together and every day we are happier and happier together and with every day, the sex only gets better. Marriage is bliss provided you go into it with realistic expectations and are willing to do what it takes to make it work. Best wishes!!!

Turns out that marriage is about the little things. Pretty much fake it till you make it through the times when you can't stand the sight of the other one. And don't forget to laugh

Commitment that you are in this for life and that your love is not based on feelings or emotions but on a deep love and respect and serving God together. Being willing to say I am sorry and I love you. Great sex. Remain faithful to each other. A willingness to share new experiences and to respect each others likes and dislikes.

Did I say serve God together? Also Pray together. Let God help you with your differences.

I've been happily been married for 18 years. These are what I believe: respect each other; remember marriage is all about compromise; and above all else is trust and faith in each other.

Fall in love with your wife everyday. Try to learn something new about her each day. Be completely honest, and kiss her forehead every morning even when you are mad at her. Good luck :)
