I used to have nightmares because of this movie. If I saw ET in real life I would run away and cry in a corner....a very disturbing film...........

i saw when i was a small child and i think it scared me pretty bad. that might be my first memory of being scared by ET. when Elliot first meets him and they scream at each other. also the sight of ET nearly dead the morning after hallow e'en was in my nightmares for years and years i think

I agree with most of the previous posts but I would like to add two films Cannibal Holocaust (when it was first shown the director was arrested and he had to prove that the actors weren't actually killed) and Audition (a Japanese film that starts slow but then builds to some deeply disturbng images.)

I don't know, I don't think so, I first saw it when I was pretty young, like 10 or 11, and I wasn't scared, I thought ET was cute. I had the stuffed animal of him. I still think he's cute and I love that movie.

Didn't scare me. Made me cry, though. ET himself didn't scare me. . . the military guys in white hazmat suits did. Watch those guys pop out of your closet late at night, and find yourself spending time with the monster under your bed.

No it's not. Gosh there are so many other films out there Freddy Krueger, Jason, Chucky to mention a few.
