It is a really good thing to be amazed with ones self. I built a railing 46 feet long made out of wood. I cut, sanded, drilled screws in, and painted it cherry red. I did it all in one week. I didn't have any help, or how to. Just looked at a picture in a maginzen of this porch. I was amazed with the work I did, and with myself. I was told by a friend that is a carptner that what I did, was so great that he wanted me to work for him. But I am a stay at home person, wife, and grandmother. It is wonderful to have pride in what you do, and who you are. It's what keeps us happy and motivative to go threw life. aafrienddonnaj@yohoo.com

I amazed myself just this evening - and not in a good way (AND in the presence of the local grocery store manager and assistant manager, who I pretty much know because of how often I'm in that store).....

For years I have bought coffee beans and ground them in the store's machine. It isn't rocket science. A few months ago I thought the machine was unplugged because it didn't start the way its supposed to. I reported it to a clerk. A couple of weeks later I went to try again, and they hadn't fixed the machine. Then the coffee that is usually ground in that machine was on sale, so I assumed they were getting rid of the broken, old, machine.

A couple of weeks later I tried again, and the machine still was "broken". Bear in mind that I have used this machine and others like it for, truly, decades....

Tonight I figured I'd give it one more try because I wanted to get some French Roast coffee. Again (!!) I was not working. I went to the service desk to ask, "Is that machine ever going to work again?" (politely, of course). The clerk got the manager and his assistant involved, and they proceeded to go to the machine, fill the bag I had left before I went to the desk, and said, "Its working now."

It turns out that some time over the course of the last few months I seem to have forgotten (!!!) that you have to hold the bag up in order to make the machine go on. I have, for some reason, just started standing the bag under the "chute thing" rather than remembering to hold it up!! I am amazed. I don't know what the heck went on in my brain. I am not 90 years old and senile. I'm not even stupid (usually).

All I can say is I was shocked and amazed at how stupid I've been for some reason I'll never figure out!! :)

(There are, however, times when I do amaze myself in a good way. This particular thing tonight, though, will take some time for me to get over in terms of utter amazement at myself.)

Its neither a good thing or a bad thing. Amazement is just amazement, its only your judgement of it that makes it good or bad. Does it feel good or does it feel bad. That is your answer

I'm usually amazed at bad things, I don't do them very often.

Both! Amazed of how utterly stupid I could've been and amazed of how utterly brilliant I was - even at the same time!

It's a good thing. =) Unless you're amazed at something dumb you did. That isn't good.
