I assume you have a large Emporor Scorpion, First see that he is well fed and not edgy. Reach from behind and down and grasp the end segment of his tail on the sides so you are in control of the pointy part! Pick up slowly, slow non agressive movements are key with these guys. Good luck!

I have never had a pet scorpian or tarantula or anything creepy like that and I never plan on having one. But I will try to help you with this one. First of all, I don't recommend picking up any kind or scorpian, I think they should just be looked at. But if you insist, pick it up like a deadly snake, the very edge of the tail, that's not how I pick up my snake, but try it. If it stings you then go to the hospital and when you come back if you are alive then hold your hand flat and let it crawl or stay still. It probably won't sting you because emperor scorpians almost never sting but keep 911 in your head just in case. I'm not sure if I'm right so I'll put a link in the sources for you to look at.

In any case, handling of pet scorpions isn't recommended, in part because of the risks, but also because scorpions are likely to be stressed if handled. Most people recommend that if handling is necessary (e.g. when cleaning cages) a pair of long handled forceps with foam over the grips be used to pick up the scorpion by the stinging end.

I would be afraid to pick it up with anything other than a big pair of tongs.
When I lived in texas, there were scorpions there and I have seen how they can whip that stinger around. They would hide in grass and sting other bugs that came by.

My brother and i carry ours around all over the house all day. its best to get him on some thing like a sheet of paper then slide it down on to your FLAT hand or let it crawl off the paper on to your hand. They will not do anything as long as you dont close your hand in on it. It will crawl all around your hand if you blow on it just a tiny bit. If that makes you uneasy it will just chill on your hand no problem. Just keep your hand flat.

With your lips. Kiss the scorpion gently and with passion. As it responds to your warmth, run your tongue across its stinger. This is a gesture of absolute trust. Your sweet scorpion will not turn on you... in fact, he will love you for it.

Just hold out your hand and let it crawl on, let it get used to being held before you try petting it.

that's the only way to really pick them up. don't curl your finger around it but almost pinch it. hopefully it's fond of you so it'll be easier on you.
