I have a hard time getting my ferret ever since I got her (about 1.5 years now) to play with the typical ferret toys you can buy up at the store. She's uninterested in tunnels, toys with bells in them, and won't eat treats. The only thing she really likes to do is wrestle with my cat.

Asking experienced ferret owners, what kind of toys do YOUR fuzzies like to play with?

Get her a "purse" of some kind and fill it with fun "shiny" items she can steal from the bag. Some keys, on a key ring, a beaded necklace, shiny foil like "cat toy" balls, large jingle bells from a craft store. A mirror made for a bird's cage and sea shells would be good too.

Basically, anything shiny, noisy and too big to swallow will tickle her pink. Eventually, she will go to her "purse' (which is really her toy box) and pick things out to play with. When you see what she likes most you can fill her purse with "like" items.

Every now and then, remove a few of her toys and put them away. Replace them with new toys and rotate them so she doesn't get bored. A toy she played with two months ago will seem "new" or she'll just be happy to see it again!

I can't in good conscience give you this information without letting you know this...NOTHING will ever compare to attacking your cat! I live with three cats, and they can't even resist attacking each other! It's easily accessed, inexpensive entertainment for all!

If the cat really didn't want to participate in the antics of the "sniper" ferret, she would find a ferret free zone and camp out.

Sounds like normal behavior....but you should really consider "the purse".

Oh wow. Here goes a list...I might not be able to list it all. She is go go go. She will bring you what she wants you to play with her. She has her own fun box. Kind of like a little toy box.
Playing with the cats or the dog. - always great fun.
Balls - loves balls.
Run about balls - the ones they run inside of.
Tunnels & Tubes
Tents
Digging boxes
Remote control cars - chases it
Laser light - chases it just like that cats
Ferret kong
Fleece toys
Ferret Teaser on a pole - Soft fleece toy with bell inside attached to a string and flexible pole
Anything with a bell in it.
Chase feet as we walk.

Most ppl think I am kidding when I say she play with the cats and the dog. No kidding here. She even goes to the litter box to do her business or to her cage when she is tired. The only time the cage is locked is when we are gone or at night...basically because she scared me silly once. Crawled up in the bed and sat on my head. And when we say bed she goes on her own.

I have owned 2 ferrets. Mine never liked the "so-called" ferret toys either. Mine always played with anything shiny like keys (I always lost mine cuz they would hide them, lol), aluminum foil rolled in a small & really tight ball, etc. They also liked rolling around the little cat balls with their noses and the cat toys that squeeked when you pushed their bellies. As far as the treats go, I gave mine dried banana slices dipped in plain yogurt (you have to let the yogurt dry too), & raisins. They loved them. They would always take their treats and hide under the couch or bed to eat them or save them for later.

I've had 5 ferrets and all but one loved their toys. The one that didn't loved my dog. The other four I had at various times and had no other pets. Ferrets prefer playmates over playtoys.

my two like some ferret toys but cat toys with catnip are good. as much as they like plastic bags it is kinda dangerous but they have crinkle sacks for both cats and ferrets i have a fish shaped one for cats. my little girl asia doesn't like treats either but she loves marshalls furovite(a vitamin supplement and treat in one). but if you need any other info check out your search engine and play with the word ferret (ferret info; ferret medical; ferret toys... and so on. i have a few in my favorites list like... some even have free newsletter emails that help

Well, my binky baby loves to play blanket. It's pretty easy: step 1. get ferret and blanket together 2.playfully take the blanket and bounce it around like you would a cat toy. 3.If they're into it (ie. attacking the blanket) you drag the blanket around on the floor and let the ferret attack. One of my ferrets would actually ride on the blanket..she'd get herself situated on the blanket and i'd pull her around. if your furry is into that it's fun to watch.

Mine love plaastic bags, (watch your baby carefully)! Also try small stuffed animals, cat toys, or just take your baby to the pet store and let her/him find something that is of interest.
