Though it is a question of personal choice i have been to Switzerland 3 times and then seen indian hills.. following 3 are in no way lesser in Natural beauty than switzerland (less development of course)

1- Harshil - 22 Kms before Gangotri (where Ram teri Ganga maili's shooting took place)

2- Chopta - Near Kedarnath... an untouched place ..with Bugyal grass which is found in switzerland & Uttaranchal only

3- Khajjiar - 18 kms from Dalhousie...this was named after a swiss village by swiss ambassador

The above places are full of natural beauty and are still not visited by many tourists

Manali is the hilly place with one of the best natural beauties.
Kulu is a rural town near Manali but I am not sure whether Kulu has a place as beautiful as Manali. I traveled Kulu to see a famous dance festival. (It was more than10 years ago)
When I visited Manali from Kulu, it took 3-4 hours by bus. There are fields of flowers, creeks, and I saw majestic Himalaya Mountains including "K2".

The Nilgiris (Blue Mountains) in Tamil Nadu. I would agree with many people that Ooty is quite beautiful but I consider it the most spoilt of all the towns in the Nilgiris. About 20-30 miles before you hit Ooty is heaven on earth for me. I was born in the military town of Wellington, just above the towns of Lower and Upper Coonoor. The most beautiful place on earth! Because the army owns Wellington, building and construction is very limited. There are some beautiful areas in the surrounding hills.

Kulu-Manali is one of the most scenic hilly places , not only in India, but probably in the entire world. It was the favourite vacation place for Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru. Try to see it before rampant commercialization spoils it.
