"Father Foley" claims that "evil liquor" turned him into a pedophile. The right wing talk show shouters claim he's just homosexual. But I digress. If your a pedophile, does it really matter if your drunk or sober?

I've been really drunk a few times in my life (like two weeks ago), and I have NEVER even thought a teeny, tiny bit about touching a kid. I think "Father Foley" is full of crap.

The majority of,the vast majority of psychiatrists have decided that there is no cure for paedophilia,no way of making sure that the subject will not reoffend. The real problem with paedophiles is that they have lost touch with reality. The first contact I had with paedophile was a man in another country who was sodomizing and killing young boys. He claimed that he loved each and everyone of the boys, that they loved him and that he killed them to save them from the pain of being like him. Twisted piece of logic but not the worse I have heard since. One who had raped a eighteen month old girl who he claimed she was flirting with him. She enjoyed the treatment that caused a tear that required eight stitches to close.
Homosexuals are not anymore paedophiles than heterosexuals, as a matter of fact straights are more likely to be paedophiles then gays.This man Foley is a paedophile who is trying to throw up all sorts of defences for his paedophilia, he's gay, a drunk, was molested when a boy by a clergyman, are just tripe and in one case a lie. If he was molested as a boy during the time he specified and at the place he was at the time he was the only victim. Drinking does not cause anything just lowers the inhabit ions to let the real desires out.

Please do not refer to that piece of scum with a term indicating some religious position of authority.
He has now come up with three different excuses for his behavior, which is his responsibility. He is a predator. It is his responsibility not to act on his own impulses.
No, a detox center will not cure pedophilia. If a pedophile is drunk, it might make it easier to catch him or her.
There is no known cure for pedophilia.
There was a drug that was used for a while to completely erradicate any sexual impulses, but it was only temporary. The will to dominate someone weaker may be part of pedophilia. I don't know what ever happened to that drug, except a few cases where people went off the drug and re-offended. Chemical castration won't take away a predator's ability to play catcher, if they still have the will to dominate others.

To make it clear in terms of medical diagnosis, he is not a pedophile based on what we have so far.
BUT - any sexual deviance, pedophile or not, cannot be cured. It can be controlled, but never cured. It is a miswiring that is as real to them as our attractions are and while they can keep themselves from acting if they are strong enough, they cannot keep from thinking it.
That being said, alcohol ALWAYS takes away inhibitions, so ANYONE is more likely to do things drunk that they might think twice about if sober, but NEVER MAKES someone do something they weren't interested in in the first place.

There is no relationship between pedophilia and alcoholism. A pedophiliac might happen to be an alcoholic. He could get treatment for alchololism but he would still be a pedophilicac. Needless to say most alcholics are not pedophiliacs.
