Don't you find it amazing that wealthy celebrities continually ask middle America to give, give, give, when the spending habits of the average Hollywood movie star far surpass anything the average American could ever imagine? I continually marvel at the hypocrisy of celebrities who blame the US government for world hunger and poverty, yet somehow manage not to feel guilty about their villas in Italy, mansions in California, penthouses in NYC, and luxury vehicles in their garages. If every wealthy movie star donated a percentage of their earnings, proportionate to what many middle-class Americans donate, there wouldn't BE any more poor, hungry people, ANYWHERE in the world. We need to put pressure on Hollywood celebrities to stop this wasteful spending and GIVE MORE OF IT AWAY!!!

yes... but the trick is... you're talking about millions with movie starts (and there really aren't that many rich millionare movie stars... what 100? maybe?)... you get into BILLIONS with business men, and there are many more of them... now if they, and the movie stars, donated a decent percentage... WOW... people would forget the word poverty in America...

and I would be willing to be movie stars give a larger percentage than your average businessman...

I don't think there is the number of movie stars to gather the funds you talk about... you only worry about them because you see them on TV... you don't see the billions that CEOs spend every year...

People pay in support of their celebrities, either through going to their movies, events, or watching their TV shows. Like it or not, they are providing a service that other people want - and they should be able to profit from that. What they do with their own money is their own business.

Do I think they are hypocritical sometimes? Sure.. but who am I to say what they should or should not do? Each of us has the freedom to act as we want, so long as it does not deprive the others of their rights

ShadowKat is right, we tend to PAY our oh so lovely celebrity their salaries.

This is one reason why I have not gone to the movie theater since probably 2001.

I see their selfishness and do not like it. I see how they love their money and fame, but hate their fans and the fans who stalk them. I see also how they hate the paparazzi who make them famous.

Hey, they asked to be famous. They did not come to me for advise and say, 'Hey, do you think I should go into acting so I can make oodles of money, purchase million dollar homes and cars, and not share my wealth to Save Darfur, Save This and Save That?"

No, not a single celebrity came and asked me for their fame and fortune. They did it all on their own and now, they have an obligation, yes, an obligation to give freely, with no strings attached and no photo ops...

It is always about me, me, me...the celebrities that is...

I agree. The one thing that really gets to me is that they go to other countries and help.We have poor and homeless people here. The come out with a "agenda" that suits them. They give money out to places that will never be self sufficient, never take care of there selves, and keep bringing children into the world that they cant care for.If I was poor and on the street, the last thing I would do is get pregnant.

I personally do not think so; they are just like us; some of us are greedy, selfish ...etc and some of us are the opposite; and I think the same applies to them.
