Yeah, I've tried them. If you get them in right, they work great. Unfortunately, if you don't get them in right, they're uncomfortable and very leaky. Also, taking them out is really, really gross. Tampons are much better (yay little string!)

These things have been on the market for years and they are quite messy to use because you can't flush them. Take it from Granny, stick with tampons, preferably the kind with a plastic applicator

I use them! Tampons are so wasteful and drying. They are a bit messy, but you can keep them in for 12 hours. I go through pads like crazy, so they help me save a lot of $$

I am thinking of getting a DivaCup (you'll have to google it.)

I have heard a local review on my news that they were quite messy upon removal.

The intention for them was to alleviate the risk of TSS (toxic shock syndrome)...

Unless you're allergic to the tampon material, you can reduce your TSS risk by simply changing every 4 hours, and alternate...one month, pads, one month, tampons.

Sorry, I'm usually up to date with that kind of stuff, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe you should google, provide a website, and give a better descriptions so that we know what your talking about.

I used them many years ago, my Mom used them all the time. She dies of ovarian cancer. Maybe related, maybe not.
I didn't like them, messy and not easy to insert properly.
