Buckeye fans are nuts. What makes Ohio State football so special?

Football is a dynasty in Ohio. The first professional football team was from Ohio just as the first professional baseball team the Reds. The first man on the moon, two Ohio boys invented the airplane, Ohio is the heart of the U.S. and is a small state. Read about Massilon football and the traditions of such cities. We are football in Ohio. We are nuts about football not because we are the best at present but because we invented it. We hate Meatchicken with a passion especially. It is a mutual rival. Go to Columbus to see a Buckeyes game to see what it is about. Our high school teams enjoy great rivalries. We love football and everything about it. We are not nuts about it. It is a well thought out love for a great sport. Go Bengals, Go Buckeyes, Go Cleveland, Go Bearcats, Go Massilon etc. We love our football.

Well I have lived here for most of my life, and I have lived in Colorado, which is a beautiful state !! I lived in Pennsylvania, where I was born. I lived in New York City, which is a dynamic, interesting, and entertaining city. Finally I lived in Virginia, which is also scenic and historic.
My great-grandfather was born, lived 90 years, and died - on one little farm in eastern Ohio. He always said that there was 'no better place in the world to live than Ohio!!!' I have driven all over this country, and eastern Canada, driving semi, and ya know what I found out? While there are some very nice places in which to live and raise a family, I now know that my great - grandpa was right!!!!!!! For me, my wife, and our six kids, there is no better place to live!!!
Oh, and uh, for those of yous who don't think there's anything to do in Ohio, WELL - we have the WORLD'S best amusement park - CEDAR POINT !!!!! We have the NFL HALL OF FAME in Canton !!!!!!!! We have the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland !!!!!! I could go on and on and on!!!!!!!!!
As far as EVERYONE in Ohio being an Ohio State fan? Would I wish that that were so!!!!!! Alas!! No - there are many big universities and colleges in Ohio that have in total many more alumni and fans than Ohio State. I have run into many a native here who detest MY beloved Buckeyes, even to the point where they are Woolveweenie fans!!! ( how saddening...) Oh well, no one's perfect...I mean - I guess SOME poor idiot has got to support that filthy team from that devil pit state up north....
Yes, Ohio is home sweet home for me and my family, and has been for my ancestors since 1843, when my great-great-great grandfather Thomas Hall moved here from North Carolina!!!
GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!!
P. S. If it had not been for three men from southern Ohio - namely : Gen. Ulysses Grant, Gen. Phil Sheridan, and Gen. William Sherman - then there probably would not even BE a United States of America today!!!!!!!!

Because they're really isn't any other great sports team in Ohio. The Bengals are getting better but aren't great, the Browns aren't good, same goes for the baseball teams in ohio. Heck, even our arena football league sucks. The blue jackets are decent but not anything to brag about. There just isn't anything else to talk about sports wise in Ohio, and I must admit with all the drama OSU players cause during the year-they always give the people of Ohio something to talk about.

Two major colleges in Ohio Ohio State is the football school, Cincinati is the Basketball school. Besides they use to be the only team that won in football out of college and pros.

Nothing. besides the fact that there is no other Ohio team and most people here don't get the fact that you are allowed to root for a team outside of your state. I am most def. not obsessed with Ohio State Football. I don't even like it. mostly because a majority of the fans are jerks

In the past 40 years, the Bengals and Browns have a combined winning percentage of .389 and one Super Bowl appearance (the Bengals lost to the 49ers in Super Bowl XXIII).
During that same period, the Buckeyes had a winning percentage of .833, 36 bowl appearances, and 5 National Championships.

My husband left Columbus when he was 12 but is STILL a hard core Buckeye 33 years later.

Im from ohio...and good question. Its probably the only cool thing Ohio has going for them know what im saying?
Ohio is kinda boring..so we consentrate on the buckeyes cause theyre pretty good and from here. Theyre like our own little celebrities besides katie holmes and drew carey.

Maybe fellow Ohioans beat up Ohio citizens who don't at least pretend to be obsessed about OSU football. Or maybe there's some kind of state law in the books.
